Loeries launches 2012 Call for Entries

Loeries launches 2012 Call for Entries

Viva African Creativity. Viva! The 34th Annual Loerie Awards calls on fellow creatives to mobilise and exercise their right to great work.  Entries are now open and can be submitted until 31 May 2012. Enter your work before 16 April and save 5% on entry fees!

The Viva! campaign is a celebration of the creativity and innovation within our region. Creativity is a tool to be used to drive business through more innovative and effective brand communication.  Viva! highlights the importance of everyone coming together to do great work – marketers, architects, writers, designers, strategists, account managers, directors, photographers, illustrators and many more. Together they create work that will form part of our region’s Creative Revolution.

Revolutionary changes for 2012

New Category for the Rest of Africa and the Middle East
In 2012, a separate category for entries from outside of South Africa has been introduced to better promote the work being produced throughout our region. The new category, Rest of Africa and the Middle East, will be judged separately allowing improved representation of all regions and offering greater exposure to each region’s creative output. The category is open for Communication Design; Direct & PR Communication; Internet, Mobile & Interactive Media; Live Events; Print & Outdoor; Radio; TV, Video & Film; and Integrated Campaigns.

Other category changes include a TV Craft category for the Best Use of Licensed Music to recognise the use of existing music in TV, film and video communication. The Digital Crafts category has been split into specific craft areas, including Interface & Navigation, Animation, Illustration & Graphic Design, Music & Sound Design, Writing and Photography. Finally, PR Communication is now one combined campaign category – there is no longer a split between the different types of media used.

Judging Week and Seminar join Creative Week CT
For the first time, the Loeries judging will immediately precede the awards ceremonies in Cape Town. Judging will take place from 17 – 20 September in Cape Town’s historic City Hall, with finalists being announced during the week. The Loeries Seminar, including the international jury chairmen will take place on Friday 21 September.

Creative Week CT sets the perfect backdrop for The 34th Annual Loerie Awards ceremonies to be held on Saturday 22 and Sunday 23 September at the Cape Town International Convention Centre.  This year, the Pendoring Awards also joins Creative Week and will take place on the Friday evening at the CTICC.

Entry Deadline & Eligibility
Entries should be completed and submitted online at by 31 May 2012.  Entrants will find all entry preparation guidelines, category descriptions, fees and regulations on the website. Entrants can save 5% on entry fees by sending their work by 16 April.
