Re:Location – Curatorial Essay:
The usually singular word ‘Relocation’ refers to moving. It is the process of vacating a fixed location and settling in a different one. A move can be to a nearby location within the same neighborhood, a much farther location in a different city, or sometimes a different country.
Vivien has split the word into two terms. Firstly “RE:” and secondly “Location”, each having their own contemporary significance. “RE”: or “Re:” followed by the subject line of a previous message to indicate a reply or response to that message. The terms “Location” and “place” in geography are used to identify a point or an area on the Earth’s surface or elsewhere. Location could also imply a desirable area. Transcending the geographical, the word Location could also encompass spitirual, mental and physical aspects.
“RE: Location” refers to the aspects regarding a spitirual, mental or physical journey. Vivien’s curation endeavors to reveal journeying without taking a single step or that of an infinite number of steps.
