Creative wizard, Ryan McManus has joined the NATIVE team as Executive Creative Director and brings with him international experience and a plethora of inspiring new ideas.
After graduating from the AAA School of Advertising with a student Loerie, Ryan has worked as a creative in South Africa, London, Amsterdam, Lisbon and Munich.
During this time he has creative and film directed, as well as conceptualised, many global campaigns at leading agencies such as EURO RSCG Amsterdam and Serviceplan Munich. He has also been involved in various think tanks, through all mediums, for well-known brands such as BMW, Nike, Sony Ericsson, M-TV, Vodafone, Volvo, Smirnoff, J&B, Evian, Shell, Levis, Expedia, Continental, Citroen, and more.
After collecting accolades at leading global and local awards including Effie, Cannes, Eurobest, Art Directors Club, New York Festival, London International Awards, One Show, D&AD, and Loeries he says he is excited to bring his global experience back to South Africa’s shores and into his new home, NATIVE.
“So far, amongst other things, I have:
. Made 100 people walk 340 miles to earn a ticket to the MTV Awards.
. Written and directed a documentary about rising seas in the South Pacific islands.
. Projected graffiti all over Munich’s national monuments.
. Created a water sustainability project that aims to redistribute water in a fairer way.
. Crashed the entire server of the Dutch Secret Service.
. Made posters that save energy.
. Published a book about a mushroom collector.
. Directed music videos and commercials for BMW, Sony, TomTom and many more.
. Invented prototypes for the future of communication.
. And worked and lived in London, Lisbon, Amsterdam, Munich, and my home, Cape Town.
And I am just getting started…,” he says.
Jason Xenopoulos, CEO and Chief Creative Officer of NATIVE, says he can’t wait to see what Ryan will come up with next. “Ryan is super-talented. He thinks differently and lives in a world where all things are possible. He isa great fit in terms of NATIVE’s culture and philosophy and we are already working on some radical ideas that will redefine the boundaries of what we do. Ryan has a deep understanding of brands and has worked on campaigns that touch people’s lives in a unique way. This closely aligns with our ethos of creating purpose-driven work that lives in people’s lives. We are entering an exciting new realm with Ryan,” he says
