Bryan’s just finished directing MTN Africa’s Welcome To The New World campaign, where he temporarily moved into Metropolitan Republic’s Joburg offices to shoot 13 brand commercials for 11 countries, in multiple languages, in under two months.
Named one of Shots’ top 50 up-and-coming directors worldwide and one of The Mail and Guardian’s top 200 Young South Africans, Bryan has directed global commercials for the likes of Discovery, MTV Europe and National Geographic Channel, which won Best Brand Commercial (Europe) and Best Director (worldwide) at Promax Europe.
The African Cypher, Bryan’s celebration of local street dance culture, has just been nominated as Best Documentary at the 2013 African Movie Academy Awards, considered the Oscars of Africa.
The African Cypher won Best Documentary at both Durban International Film Festival and Encounters South African International Documentary Festival in 2012.
Bryan is the only documentary director to have won two Encounters’ audience awards: his Fokofpolisiekar: Forgive Them For They Know Not What They Do documentary was named Best South African Film in 2009.
New directors, new website, new office soon
As part of welcoming two new directors, Fly On The Wall has launched a new website, www.flyonthewall.co.za, and will be moving into new offices soon.
“I want Chris and Sean to make the work they want to make,” Bryan says. “That is the point of this whole endeavor: to somehow create a framework that allows all of us to create the very best work we possibly can. It’s a life project.”
