JOHANNESBURG, 01 August 2013 ­– PowerPlay® Energy Drink continues to inspire Mzansi youth through the collaboration between PowerPlay® Heroes and seven new creative talents.

  • Mentees will showcase their work at the 2013 Griffin SessionsTM
  • Vuzu to document creative journey between hero and recruit in documentary style reality television show

The Campaign is an extension of the brand’s 2012 work that involved the 48 hour exhibition Powerplay®Griffin SessionsTM and PowerPlay® Heroes documentaries. The campaign will result in Heroes and mentees creating exciting work for the 2013 Griffin SessionsTM. The Heroes will guide the mentees, showing them the ropes and imparting knowledge that will see their mad skills come to life and build their entrepreneurial capabilities.

These mentees are designers, photographers, multimedia/ graphic designers, fashion designers and mix DJs who symbolise the next generation of Heroes within various creative fields. They are: Chumani Tims, DJ Lady Ming, Success Maake, David Tshabalala, Siyanda Sapho, Tamzyn Jade and Tania Pehl.

As part of the Campaign the most impressive mentee stands a chance win R40, 000.00 towards pursuing their dream.

Vuzu, the youth-oriented television channel, has partnered with PowerPlay® so that the public are brought along for the ride. The journey between Hero and mentee will be documented through a unique television show of eight 24 minute episodes. Incorporating creativity, entrepreneurship, lifestyle and entertainment, The show will premiere on Friday, 27 September 2013 at 19h00.

In the build- up to the session, the hero and mentee partnership will hone the mentees’ creative skills as well as provide them with business knowledge and branding know-how. The heroes will also direct their mentees on how to stage an event and on how to find and work with the best suppliers in the business.
