For those who don’t know, tell us who Max Mogale is and what do you do?
I am a Cape town based photographer intrigued by all things visual.
Energetic, colourful and current
The Powerplay Heroes is an initiative where myself and 6 other young creatives from South Africa have been selected for our out of the ordinary skills and talents. We have just moved into a new phase where we are mentoring youngsters who are interested in following in out footsteps in fields like photography, music, fashion and the like.
Its my first solo exhibition in Johannesburg and I’m rather excited about it. I explore the notion of silence and how we, in this digital age, deal with it. It’s become increasingly rare to find oneself in complete silence at one with your thoughts. And that silence makes us uncomfortable. The exhibition is about putting subjects in silence in front of a lens and seeing what happens.
Its very different to what I’m used to doing. I explore the notion of double exposure as well which I have never done before and also explore black and white photography which is a first for me.
