Who is Sam Leburu and what do you do?
Samuel Leburu is a young filmmaker breaking into the industry of film as a DOP and photographer, I work as a freelance camera/DOP/Director in the television industry and founded one of the biggest Hip Hop movements ,Mawaza Entertainment in the west rand.
How would you define your style or art?
My style of art is defined by my surroundings, as a boy born and bread in a township id like to believe that its up to me take people on visual journey through my photography, short films and music videos. In a nutshell my style of art is just sharing the beauty of a township, making townships look cool. Lol!
What inspires your work?
I’m inspired by a lot of things from movies, music to young Africans who are breaking boundaries and push regardless of their circumstances.
What are you currently working on?
I’m currently working on a lot of things from television shows like Club808, Sister Hood, ShizNiz, Hot Plate, Movers and Shakers, Gumba Gumba to documentaries and trying to establish myself in the commercial and film industry.
What advice would you give young creatives looking to do what you do?
The sky is the limit, the harder you work the faster you grow and don’t ever think that you know it all , just keep learning and growing. Most of all let God be the engineer in your life.
