Who is Tyrone Inkslinger and what do you do?
I am a tattoo artist based in Cape Town pushing the boundaries and limits of this industry. I have a strong background in art that all started off by being an airbrush artist and working my way up in the food chain in the art world with strong morals I try and display the highest level of artistry in all aspects.
How would you define your style or art?
It is hard to describe any individual’s style but I do have my own style which you can recognise in my work, I do try and stay on top of latest trends and do stay on top of new trends and incorporate my own style into it.
What inspires your work?
What inspires my work is following international artists and the high standards they achieve and knowing that I am basically at the same level to compete with them. So what really inspires me is doing better than the rest.
What are you currently working on?
As a tattoo artist I have numerous pieces I am busy with so all I can say is that I am busy fine tuning different techniques in tattooing. I have done the cover-ups, water colour, realism, traditional, old school, and new school and currently I am trying to make tattoos look like oil paintings with textures.
What advice would you give young creatives looking to do what you do?
All I can say to those who try to attempt tattooing…. find a new profession. This is a cut throat industry and we will cut your throat in this industry.
