Paul Hinch, creative partner at leading design and branding agency Grid, has been selected as a judge at the upcoming Loeries Awards, South Africa’s premier showcase of advertising and communication industry creativity.
Hinch will judge work in the communication design category.
He is a previous member of the judging panels at the Student Loeries, the Young Creatives Awards, the Sappi Think Ahead awards programme and the Antalis Art of Design Awards.
Hinch’s creative credits during his time at Illovo-based Grid include work on several Loeries Grand Prix winners – Virgin Mobile (2006), the Lulu franchise (2007) and SLOW Airport Lounges (2010). All took top honours for design.
He commented: “It’s an honour to be selected to judge the best examples of South African design creativity. I’ve just returned from the Cannes Lions festival and have seen how past constraints are being swept away.
“The role of design as the key to long-term brand success is being explored as never before. Parameters are widening. Reinvention is constant. It’s an exciting time to be working in the design field and to be joining the judging panel at the Loeries.”
The 2014 Loerie Awards will be presented at the Cape Town International Convention Centre this coming Saturday (Sept 20) and Sunday.
