Who is Heinrich Filter and what do you do?
I am a self-taught artist and my expertise ranges from wildlife, bird, abstract to African works. Each piece is exclusively sculpted and also chased and finished by myself.
How would you define your style of Art?
Being a sculptor, an ex-safari guide and proudly South African I naturally draw my inspiration from the African bush and our rich wildlife.
With my first collection my aim is for my sculpture to accurately convey the beauty and essence of Africa’s rich wildlife in a classic yet timeless style.
What inspires you and your work?
Africa, wildlife, nature, people
Tell us about your process when it comes to creating?
Once the idea is in my head I can’t wait to start sculpting.
What are you currently working on?
Figurative and abstract sculpture
What advice would you give young creatives looking to do what you do?
Don’t hesitate, just do it – create. And remember to photograph the various creative stages of your work.
