Hi Ryan, welcome back to SA Creatives! What have you been up to since we last had a chat?
Since the last time we spoke I had just finished my studies at NMMU Port Elizabeth, I moved to Durban looking for a career, I then started working at the Mr Price group, for Sheet Street Home brand and I am still currently with them as a in-house photographer.
Since I have been in Durban I have worked with a amazing photographer called Conway Photography for about 2 years as a assistant photographer.
I recently starting weddings, birthdays, engagement shoots again in 2015, which I have really enjoyed doing.
I have recently wanted to take my photography to the next level with my own work and this has led me to my personal project I’m working on Monday Blues.
Tell us about your new Project?
Monday Blues is my new project I’m working on, this will be a creative exhibition based on all the different types of people, representing everyone and their daily lives revolving around Monday Blues.
What was the inspiration behind this body of work?
The concept came up because I have a passion for portraits and I believe so much more can be done with them with some creative thinking. Because all of us feel trapped in our Monday Blues, I felt the bath tub really showed that restriction in the photos.
With the use of saturated colour and contrast this brought out my characters from the children to the surfer to the housewife.
What are your creative plans for the rest of 2015?
Monday Blues will be my project for the rest of 2015, I plan to continue to grow it and add to the types of people represented in it. I will also continue to grow my weddings, birthday, engagement shoots making them more and more creative, because I believe in fun, interactive and unique photo.
