What is Skullbox and what do you do?
Skullbox and Tattoo Company is a lifestyle shop which has been based on the Vegas/shop; ‘Hart and Huntington’. We deal with tattoos, which i am the main resident artist.
How would you define your style or art?
I am an all-rounder but my forte` is colour work. New school and watercolour being my favourite as well as trash polka and realism.
What inspires your work?
I have been in the art game pretty much my whole life. Street art & graffiti has been a big influence for/on me, as well as 3D animation of which I am a big fan. Also, those European artists are banging out some insane tattoos. I would love to push and work myself to that level of skill.
What are you currently working on?
I really enjoy doing portraits and am currently trying to master them. I have been fortunate enough to do some really cool ones recently. I just did my eighth portrait the other day and really had fun with it. Besides that, I have been working a lot on my new school tattoos. It seems like my customers are getting more and more into it which makes my job even better.
What advice would you give young creatives looking to do what you do?
I would tell them to have patience and lots of it. This industry is hard to get into these days so if you do manage to get an apprenticeship you need to show commitment and perseverance.
What has been the highlight of your career thus far?
I’m not going to lie, getting the opportunity to have this interview, to reach more people and get my name out there and allowing the readers to view my work and what I am about.
Where can our readers follow your work?
They can follow on Facebook under Skullbox and Tattoo Company. Alternatively we do have a website, Twitter and Instagram. I also keep my private Instagram account Chapmanink updated with my latest tattoos and other art work.
