It was recently announced that Nkanyezi Masango, Creative Director at Y&R SA’s Cape Town office, has been selected as the only South African judge on the Advertising Jury at the Art Director’s Club (ADC) 95th Annual Awards.

The Art Director’s Club is a New York-based non-profit membership organisation that celebrates and awards the global creative community, and boasts a prestigious international member base. The Annual Awards is the oldest continuously running industry award show in the world.

According to Mark Tutssel, Chair of the 2016 Advertising Jury and Global CCO of Leo Burnett Worldwide, the Annual Awards discovers and celebrates rare talent that has changed the world through craftsmanship in advertising, digital media, graphic and publication design, packaging, motion, photography and illustration. “Winning an ADC Black Cube is the pinnacle of one’s career,” he says.

Nkanyezi, who in 2015 also served on the Film Jury at AD STARS in Busan, views his selection as one of the highlights of his own career. He started his creative journey in 2002 at TBWA Hunt Lascaris, and a professional wanderlust soon led him to TBWA Hong Kong in 2007. After working in Asia on world-renowned brands, he joined Y&R SA’s Cape Town office in 2011 and still calls it home.

“Artistry and craftsmanship in advertising are very dear to me, and I consider it an honour and a calling to represent my country at this esteemed forum. It’s one of the oldest and most prestigious shows in the industry, and I’m also a proud supporter of their 50/50 Initiative, which promotes equal participation for women and men on award show juries.”

The ADC Annual Awards judging will take place from 11 to 15 April 2016 in Colorado.
