It is with great excitement that Velocity Afrika announce that we have been awarded the 2016 Media Award for the Best African Production Company, as well as an award for the Best African Alcohol Campaign for our Hennessey, ‘Never stop, Never Settle’ commercial.
Mpho Twala directed the campaign for McCann Worldwide Johannesburg and The Real Great Brand Company. The campaign was broadcast in Oan Africa, and with this in mind, the Velocity Africa team aimed for a perfect balance of west meets Africa. “Its a look that achieves a good mix of Africa and a very cosmopolitan feel that it can work in most parts of the world.”
As a production company, Velocity Afrika ensures that they remain authentic to the various demographics within the African continent – with the aim of portraying a unique and proudly African identity to the rest of the world. This is what comes across in the Hennessy campaign.
The Media Awards honour companies or individuals operating in the media industry that have excelled in the past year, working to provide the best possible service to their clients; recognizing the key players who transform the way the world visualises, interprets and conceives across a variety of platforms.
“We are truly excited that this commercial has been recognised and acknowledged in this way. It was a concept and idea that was very close to our hearts, as it resonates with our own personal story. The brief was to show a modern African man who is comfortable with himself and his surroundings, but constantly wants to do better and inspire others to want to do better.
