Who is Xopher Wallace and what do you do?
I am a Johannesburg based photographer who is Inspired by my imagination and dreams I experience. I like taking long walks across the internet and conversations about reaching the ultimate self.
What inspires your work?
I always try to relate my style to cartoons because with cartoons there is no limit to what content is shown: Anything and everything is possible. I try to portray that in my photographs, a surreal, magically and conceptual world. Imagination for me is such a powerful tool to create ideas and change the world. I’d like my views of that to be seen in my images
What are you currently working on?
I have started taking collaborations very seriously recently. That for me is the best way to open and expend my eye. I have been working continuously with a film-maker and photographer: Bill Zuze from Zambia. I am also planning to collaborate with US-based photographer and videographer Moyo Oyelola who is in Johannesburg. His work is brilliant . It is going to be amazing working with someone who inspires me.
5.What advice would you give young creatives looking to do what you do?
Don’t try and be different. Everyone wants to be different so bad that they are all the same. Just be yourself, know yourself and love yourself. Everything that comes to you weather positive or negative will be handled best and purely if you start being yourself. In life and in your art.
6.What has been the highlight of your career thus far?
When I discovered my calling as a photographer.
