Jenny Mills graduated from the University of Cape Town (B.A.S.; B.ARCH.) and first distinguished herself as a young architect with Stefan Antoni. Jenny launched her own Cape Town based practice in 2003. Over the past 15 years her work has been prominent in South Africa, particularly in the Western Cape, and highly regarded by discerning local and international clients. Her design solutions have been widely and on television.
Born and raised in Cape Town, South Africa. Following primary and secondary school, Candida studied at Cape Peninsula University of Technology toward her National Diploma in Architectural Technology which was completed in 2011. During this time (Dec 2007 – Dec 2009) she worked as an intern at ACG Architects and Development Planners before completing diploma at the end of 2011. To further experience in a dynamic office and also explore options in interior design she therefore worked at Jenny Mills Architecture and Interiors. Here too being in a small to medium design studio allowed alot of personal growth and development. She spent 2013 in the Netherlands as an au pair using this experience as an opportunity to travel through Europe. This has been one of the best experiences integrated and learning a new language, discovering new cultures, and so forth. Once returning to South Africa she completed her Bachelor Degree in Interior Design. This therefore merges her experience in Architecture with her love for design and interiors.
I’m an art-stronaut that does illustration, graphic design, comics, and products. I also have a PhD in Digital Media Studies.
We love to be rebellious with our design. None of this sticking to what’s trendy with what every other house has on the block. No, we are different. We are fun. We are out there, and yes, we are even witty. Of course we always take into consideration your personality and specific quirks, to create a space that you will love and relate to, but then we add some sparkle and brilliance and turn your space into a conversation point.
Redesign is based in Durban. We think out of the box with every design. Interiors can look good; they can even make it into fancy magazines for originality – but if their looks don’t go together with usefulness, you might as well pack up your stuff and move out.
South African design firm Haldane Martin Iconic Design create innovative high-concept commercial interiors like Truth Coffee and original, iconic furniture.
Designer Haldane Martin has been instrumental in the emergence of a new South African design language, both in his early signature furniture designs and more recent commercial interiors.
Early works such as the iconic Songololo sofa and Zulu Mama chair were groundbreaking in seamlessly integrating indigenous craft, sustainability, cultural identity, biomimicry, geometry and digital design, becoming sought-after by design collectors.
The studio’s high-concept interior design has also captured global attention. Haldane Martin works together with commercial partners to create extraordinary spaces, transforming concepts that capture a brand’s essence into innovative interiors with unique character. Original furniture designs and custom fittings further manifest the identity in a physical, three-dimensional way.
The studio’s first large-scale commercial project, the steampunk-inspired Truth Coffee, was named “world’s best coffee shop” by MSN and The Telegraph, and won a Gold Loerie for interior design while Urbanologi won Best Restaurant Design in Africa and the Middle East at the Restaurant and Bar Design Awards. These concept interiors with bespoke elements are exemplary of the ability to tap into the essence of the client’s brand identity and express it through objects and space in an iconic way.
For Haldane, design is iconic when it marries innovation with beauty and captures the zeitgeist in a timeless fashion. He believes in integrating conceptual depth, aesthetic beauty and elegant functionality into one seamless whole.

I’m creatively inclined with a passion for all things design/photography-related, other than that I tend to stalk trees and dream about travelling the globe full-time. If you’d like to hire me on a freelance basis, just drop me an email. (My work can be viewed on laurvdw.prosite.com)
