The Expressionist – Anthony Bila

Today we chat to Anthony Bila, a vibrant creative all rounder, with a flare for all things fashionable and African.
Who is Anthony Bila- The Expressionist and what do you do?
I am a creator first and foremost. i am a fine artist, illustrator, blogger, photographer, videographer, music producer and writer.
How would you define you creative style?
I use a variety of mediums to express myself and that is why i chose the alias or pseudonym of The Expressionist .
Tell us more about your photography style and what inspired it?
My photography in particular is a reflection of South African and African fashion. The end goal for me when shooting anything fashionable or style related is this; “to bring African fashion to the world and world fashion to Africa”. I feel Africa has been underexposed internationally and that is why I picked up a camera a little over a year ago and just started shooting friends and strangers from all walks of life, whom I thought to be well styled, unique but most of all, expressive. I guess you could say my work is very Afrocentric because I believe we are a place with immense potential. It’s not just kids with kwashikor, civil wars and crime. It’s the last frontier for discovery by the world. So through my creative outlets I’m trying to bring light to what a lot of people have called the “dark continent”. My art and photography are forms of my self-expression and creativity. I am The Expressionist.
