Creative agency Black River FC was awarded a Silver Lion at the 60th annual Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity this week in the south of France. The award was given for three print adverts created for the 1st for Women insurance campaign, “That’s why we insure women”.
The winning ads, Dubai, Fence and Cliff, form part of a larger 1st for Women campaign, which consists of print, television and radio adverts, showing men in various predicaments fuelled by bravado and testosterone-driven curiosity. The team behind the campaign was Elena Ronca, business unit director; Suhana Gordhan, creative director; and creative team, Avish Gordhan and Mandie van der Merwe.
Speaking from Cannes, Black River FC executive creative director Ahmed Tilly said the team was over the moon. “The competition is fierce here at Cannes, and every year it gets tougher. We are honoured to be recognised by our peers on a world stage and we’re excited to be bringing this award home to our client, 1stfor Women, and the South African advertising industry. We cannot wait to get back home to celebrate with everyone.”
