First Time On SA Creatives – Digital Artist Keletso Vanga

Who is Keletso Vanga and what do you do?

Keletso Vanqa is a starving digital artist, whom has a background in fine arts from his formal education prior tertiary; then later discovered his penchant for new media undertaking Graphic Design. I am a Freelance designer, who indulges in criticism with fellow artists. This encourages an advance in my personal threshold whilst working, though what motivates me most is not questioning my own integrity but remaining passive with others, deducing my art to befit my sole interests. This obviously is not the approach one should take with clients [laughs].

How would you define your style or art?

I would define my art as being completely sporadic and multifaceted. What I mean is as a designer, your art has to showcase industry trends as a viable way to obtain relevance, making your style manipulative and adaptive to change. That would define being “multifaceted”. The spontaneity in my style would be creating the first thought that comes to mind, later altering it to the next tedious series of self conscious doubts and ideas. I would, sincerely define my art or style as a caricature of myself.

What inspires your work?

Always having a natural interest in things most people shun. Seriously, though, I find inspiration from past experiences. Conquering a fatal Anxiety Disorder to overcoming the fear of being able to sketch or render designs after nine months of diagnosis. I would credit music, graphic novels and eastern circuit films as inspirations as well.

What are you currently working on?

I am currently in cohorts with a photographer assembling a digital press kit for a House collective. I am also in discussions in drafting sketches for an independent director. My priority is further developing skill and execution, whether commissioned based or personal.

What advice would you give young creatives looking to do what you

I would advise young creatives to experience the hardship of accepting criticism outside the classroom, and personally mediate what may be best decisive. Teachers are learning facilitators not a rubric, so the liability is your will and action. Always remain undeterred, there’s more than one way to attain success.

Where can our readers follow your work?

Readers can follow me on Flickr, alias is Designer 1981. I recently joined Art Limited as Keletso Vanqa. Be sure to keep an eye out for my developing website.
