The New Cinema Club will be launching at Space Between gallery in Woodstock on Thursday 30 July.
The initiative seeks to provide a regular platform every 4-6 weeks for filmmakers to screen their works and speak about their projects to an audience in a panel discussion.
The first volume of The New Cinema Club will include the following films:
1.) Past Your Nose
Directed by Luan Kleingeld
A couple on a drug binge hear strange noises from the apartment next door. When Nicky investigates, we find out that some people cannot see past the end of their nose. A satirical black comedy about our obsession with media violence, while ignoring violence that happens right in front of us on a daily basis.
2.) Tainted Blood
Directed by Jembe Moran
The film follows the aftermath of the brutal assault of a foreign shopkeeper
Directed by Amy-Leigh Braaf
Charlie a young girl who tragically loses her brother begins to wear his clothes in order to cheer up her grieving mother. However, 10 years later she is still emulating him until an unknown man follows her and frees her from the life that never truly belonged to her.
4.) Tata My Chance
Directed by Devon Delmar
It’s 7 o’clock, and time for the lottery draw. An optimistic hippy is confident he’s cracked the formula to win in a spurt of quick-fire mathematics, though his housemates seem less than certain
5.) There’s No Place
Directed by Neil Huysamer
Description: A short film about household objects who daily must contend with their human’s silly trifles.
6.) For Your Eyes
Directed by Ciaran Madwell
When two professionals with particularly different skill sets, offering two distinctly different services, agree to meet their clients in the same park, any number of things can go wrong.
There will be pizza sponsored by Butler’s for those attending and beer available, for those wanting to attend the admission is R 50 and seats are limited to 120 persons.
